Afternoon Tea: Misrepresentation

Afternoon Tea – Misrepresentation
Sunday 27th September – Sunday11th October
Open every day except Mondays and Thursdays
11am - 4pm

This exhibition shows the work of several artists who have made work that questions ideas of aging, ritual and custom, all set into the backdrop of a tea party. There are mechanical teapots, wobbly trolleys, cakes and tea cosies as you’ve probably never seen them before and other works that add up to create a very special occasion.

During this event, I am interested in collecting any romantic or interesting reminiscences that involve tea dances and afternoon tea. This maybe a recollection from the war years, or it could be of a memory of something more recent.
If you have any stories or know someone who has, please get in touch with Lyndsey at the gallery or write the story and send it. This may become part of this event or a future one.

There will be cup cakes and tea for visitors. A donation would be helpful for the gallery for this.

Thanks to Annie Gunning, Heather Howells, Tiffany Crouch for the beautiful cakes they made for the preview (see below) and to Lily Henry for providing all of the bone china cups and saucers which made the whole preview a very genteel affair. Thanks to Jackie Murrell for the loan of 4 kettles!
